My client, Sara, requested was that the quilt include the colors of the Italian soccer team, Juventus, that it be personalized in some way with the boy's name and include a custom label stating who it was from.
Sara also sent me a picture of the boy's bedroom which has soft gray wall and the Juventus Logo on the wall.
Here is the finished quilt:
The fabrics I used are all Kona solids (white, black, ash, and citrus). Quilt measures 79" X 89".
The stars and soccer ball are paper pieced (I found the free patterns at Paper Panache. soccer ball here and stars here. I enlarged the soccer ball pattern to measure 14" in diameter.
I quilted it in my favorite cross hatch quilting fashion (you can find my tutorial here) with a variegated yellow thread. I think the little yellow accents are what really bring this quilt to life.
I put the boy's name on the back:
Along with the custom label:
I think Vincenzo is one lucky boy to receive such a gift from his loving aunt and uncle and his grandparents! I hope that he enjoys the quilt for many years!
Sara loved the quilt and has reported that Vincenzo's parents were thrilled with it and they loved how personalized it is.
And, as far as clients go, Sara was a pleasure to work with! She had minimal, but clear requests put her trust in me as the designer.
After delivering the quilt, she sent me a picture of it once it was on the bed.
I uploaded a video on you tube showing how it all came together.
